What is this?

So does anyone know what the upward facing arrow on the right means? It's a photo from the Tesla navigation screen.

A note from our club member, Dan Rosenblatt, is as follows:

I think it's a slider indicating how close you are to the next transition. That bottom left grey panel shows when there is a transition, usually a turn or highway exit, and in your case an intersection where you should go straight using either of the middle 2 lanes.

Happy Thanksgiving!

To all who celebrate, have a Happy Thanksgiving this year.

Remember to bring up sustainable travel in conversation during the day. While not recommended, if you choose to only participate in Thanksgiving with electric vehicle owners, our club will understand. We'll also understand if you choose to sit away from those that burn dinosaur goo to attend Thanksgiving. If you are the host and say "second helpings are for electric vehicle owners only", we know where you're coming from.

The ultimate achievement: baking your Thanksgiving meal in a solar-powered oven. You'll get an appreciative golf-clap from all of us!

An inexpensive friend

This is a tread gauge. It's a simple device that can tell you how worn your tires are, and even if they're in alignment or need to be rotated. I bought this one at Autozone for $3 (I think) but have been given one when buying tires. After a year of owning a Model S, my tires are just barely in the green (which means I'll be buying tires before next year's Tesla Rally). If the tread reading is the same for all four tires, you are rotating them properly (or you have Tesla's AWD). If the tread reading is the same at all tread points on a tire (center and outside tread grooves), your tires are properly aligned. If the center tread groove is significantly different than the outside groove, you're wearing your tires out prematurely (either by alignment issues or under/over inflation).

As we approach the Winter, I advise checking your tires with a tire gauge. I have All-Seasons on my EV, but this year was the first time I've purchased snow tires for my ICE vehicle. Snow tires are pliable below 40 degrees F, so if you plan to drive in snow a lot they are recommended.

December Lunch / club meeting - Dec. 10, 2016

The December meeting for both the DEVC and the CSEVC will be our annual holiday party, Saturday, Dec. 10  at Cinzzetti’s Italian Market Restaurant , 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM,  281 W. 104th Avenue, Northglenn. This is an enormous buffet during the last two hours of their Saturday Weekend Brunch and you can check out their Menu at: http://www.cinzzettis.com/colorado/foodmenu/ Coffee, tea or soft drinks are included; espresso or alcoholic beverages are extra.
It would be most helpful if you would arrive between 12:15 and 12:45 so we can get everyone checked in beforehand. Members with annual dues current, get in for FREE. If your dues are not current, or you are not yet a member and would like to join us, dues will be collected at the door (Regular $20, or Sponsor $50). All guests of members will be $10 each. So we can give Cinzzetti’s a heads up on the number attending, please RSVP to me (David McNiel) at: jdmc44@comcast.net by the 8th of December and include the number of guests attending with you.
This is a time when we have our largest turnout to a meeting with everyone connecting, or reconnecting, with fellow EV enthusiasts. Make sure you attend, you’ll be glad you did!

November meeting at Glen Eyrie a success

Our November meeting was held at Glen Eyrie and we have more folks that we anticipated! We got a brief tour of the home after a buffet lunch. I wish we had space to post all the photos I took, I'll put in the ones I can. December's meeting is in conjunction with the DEVC near Denver, check back with this website for details.

Club Holiday Lunch - Nov. 12, update

This is a re-post of our Nov. 12th club meeting at Glen Eyrie, and I'm happy to announce we're very close to our 30-person reservation. Please read below and notify Mac McCauley (if you haven't already) that you'd like to go. We have many new members since the plans were made, so we hope they can make it!

=============================================

Hello all members of the Colorado Springs Electric Vehicle Club (CSEVC)!

Mac McCauley here!  NEWS!!

Fellow club member James Harrell has been wanting for us to have a Thanksgiving and Christmas party/meeting, maybe at Glen Eyrie Castle, here in Colorado Springs.  We, your club’s leadership, could not get our act together.  By the time we got organized, EVERY date in December had been booked.  Finally, today, we met with the Glen Eyrie events coordinator.  We decided that an evening event would cost far too much, so:

We will have our normal November meeting there!  We paid the required deposit for 30 people.  We are on the schedule!

You can view the Glen Eyrie website for further information on the castle here:

The monthly meeting of the Colorado Springs Electric Vehicle Club will be (second Saturday) November 12th at 11:30 AM, INSIDE THE CASTLE in Glen Eyrie Castle, Colorado Springs.

This will be a sandwich BUFFET, consisting of chips, potato salad, fresh fruit, sandwich bar with condiments, water and soda.  The cost, which we have already paid, is $17.32 per person, including tax.  So that I don’t have to make change for everyone, if you could just give me $20, we will put the other $2.68 toward making more club business cards, paying for the club web site, etc.

Please note:  You should not just show up at the door expecting to get in.  You MIGHT get in, but maybe not.  You must let us know you will attend.  I will answer your email by saying you are IN!  Only then will your name will be on the list.

Question:  What if less than 30 people show up?  Answer:  I will find people to make up the difference.  (And I probably will not do this again).

Question:  What if MORE than 30 people want to attend?  Answer:  As long as I know who is coming IN ADVANCE, we can change the number of attendees, so all is well.

CHECK YOUR CALENDAR!  If you can make it, just let me know who you are and how many people will be there.  Just click here to open an email to me:

Remember, it is not official until I answer your email and tell you that you are on the list.

DETAILS:  On November 12th, you cannot enter prior to 11 AM.  The meal starts at Noon, the event is over at 1:00 PM.  The event will be in the King James Room, inside the castle.  Should you like to walk about the grounds, you are welcome to do so after the event.  Park near the castle, there is plenty of parking.  NOTE:  DO NOT PARK
NEXT TO THE HILL!  Bighorn sheep and mountain goats scramble about up there and knock down rocks on cars!  When we visited today, there was a HUGE wild bighorn sheep walking around the grounds!

I will send you a reminder and a more newsy email next week.

Be sure to check out YOUR club’s website, csevc.com:

My undying thanks to Wilson Hitchings, our webmaster, who keeps the site so interesting!!

See you all next month!!!!

Mac
