New club business card design

We have been asked on several occasions if our club has a business card to give to EV owners we meet in the wild. We do, and we just re-designed it (see below). We'll have a few hundred printed up and let any club member who wants some to have them.

New signup sheet from Concurs show

The best car show of the year (in my opinion) is the Concurs D'Elegance at Arapahoe Community College on June 9, 2019. Our club participated in the show a couple of years ago, it was a great all-day show with exotic cars. They just updated their sign-up poster, see below.

Update on Earth Day 2019

To those club members participating in Earth Day 2019: the event coordinators ask that if you're attending the show at the start of the day, please be in place and parked no later than 8:30am. If you can't arrive for the start of the show, please wait until after 10:00am to arrive. We want to minimize the demands on their staff to lock/unlock the gate, so please arrive/leave in 2 hour blocks of time (start of show; 10:00am, noon, 2:00pm). This would greatly help all of us, thanks!

Charging at a canal

A friend I have (Tom Croak) in the Mercedes Club of America (Pikes Peak Section) who visits Europe frequently and he sent me a photo of the canals in Amsterdam. Tom's comments were:

There seems to be a charging post on every block along the canals. I was told they would add more as needed. Also took the canal tour in a mini-yacht built in 1909 that had been converted from diesel to electric four years ago. Guide said that all canal tour boats had to be converted by 2022.

I have seen so many Model S taxis here, it really made me wonder. Today I got the explanation. The Airport has a rule that only electric taxis may be on their grounds. By 2022, all taxis in the city have to be electric, same deadline for all tour boats to be converted. I got varying stories on when all cars that are not electric will be banned from the city.  Of course, the primary mode of transportation here is the bicycle, so you can see the push from the people to reduce emissions.  The city has an excellent system of electric trolleys that will take you most places in the city. It is a very clean city and we have greatly enjoyed our visit.

First meeting of the year!

Thanks to everyone that came to our first 2019 club meeting. We had at least 20 EVs in attendance, Teslas to Leafs to BMWs to Fiats.

Interesting blog traffic

For those curious, here is our last week's blog statistics. I find it interesting that Poland, after the USA, is the largest viewing audience. This changes week-to-week, but I was surprised at the international audience we have!

Dan Rosenblatt's Travel Experience

Watch the video below for Dan Rosenblatt's recent trip to Baltimore, MD from Colorado. He towed a car behind his Tesla Model X and collected valuable information about the impact of towing a car with an EV. You may stop the presentation at any time to read the slides. Thanks, Dan!

Club Meeting - Saturday, April 6 @ Trading Post

Our first club meeting of the year is being held at the Garden of the Gods Trading Post this Saturday, April 6, 2019 at noon. Come by at 11:00am if you would like to visit in the parking lot. We use the left parking lot (when facing the building). The address is 324 Beckers Ln, Manitou Springs, CO 80829. See you there!

Earth Day, April 20, 2019!

Earth Day Celebration this year is at Garden of the Gods Visitors Center, Colorado Springs on Saturday, April 20 from 9:00am - 3:00pm in the North Parking Lot. Our club has committed to having at least 4 EVs at this show, and we just received our space designation (see below).

We have spots for 18 cars, but certainly don't want to park that many side-by-side; we need room to open doors and for a tent/table. Even taking that into account, we have plenty of room for our club members. We can come-and-go as we please so you don't have to sit all day (we just need to be careful with leaving; someone has to escort you out of the North Gate).

Please consider going, let me know  (Wilson Hitchings) if you're interested. We have parking spots #24 - #29 (see map below).

All EVs are welcome, any brand.
