The Electric Viking is a YouTube channel I follow, and the author is projecting that former (read: fired) CEO of VW, Herbert Diess, will be named to head up Tesla. He will make an excellent replacement for Elon Musk.

Traditional auto review sources are reviewing EVs with regularity! Here's a MotorWeek review of the new Ioniq 5: https://youtu.be/XlHG2S5GZZY . The *surprising* part of the review is that you can get adapters for reverse energy - i.e., you can use the car's battery to power external devices.

Our newest club member hails from Bismark, North Dakota. His name is Zane Zuther and he met several CSEVC club members at the recent Tesla Rally in Custer, South Dakota. He doesn't drive and EV but works for an electric utility cooperative headquartered in Bismarck, North Dakota. He is interested in the development of EVs in general and operates his own technology company in his free time. Please make him welcome when he attends one of our Zoom meetings!

Tesla drivers are almost 50% less likely to crash while driving a Tesla than when driving other cars: study
New research from Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), one of the industry’s largest telematics service providers, has found several interesting trends regarding electric vehicle drivers. Among the study’s findings involved Tesla drivers, who were almost 50% less likely to crash while driving a Tesla than when driving other cars.

I received this message a day or so ago, the coordinator needs EVs on display for Saturday, June 25, 2022. If you are interested, respond to Jim Riggins, email@example.com , 719-313-6171 by June 12 if possible. Last minute cancellations and additions are not a problem.
I'm the volunteer chair of the Southeast Colorado Renewable Energy Society and I would like to ask for some CSEVC member support in June. We host a series of free public lectures and education on a variety of topics in renewable energy and energy efficiency. On Saturday, June 25, we will host a lecture on electric vehicle basics at Library 21C from 10:30 to 12:00 noon. We would like to follow the lecture with a display of various EVs in the parking lot, and the chance for the public to chat with owners, starting at 11:30. The Google Maps locator for the library is https://goo.gl/maps/duS8AaLJ4pfExhnL9 .
I will have my Model X out there but I would love to see a wide variety of makes and models in the lot. I know there have been at least 2 Rivian R1T deliveries in Colorado Springs and it would be outstanding if any of these owners are CSEVC members and might be able to attend.
Could you please send out the announcement of this event to the membership? I apologize for the late notice, but we've delayed the scheduling while waiting to see what the COVID situation would be.

The Osage City, KS newspaper (the Osage County Herald-Chronicle) had to publish a correction to their recent edition for the names of the Car Show winners. When they did so, they made one of our club members famous (well, MORE famous).
Thanks to Robert G. for this link, it looks like Ford isn't taking any more orders for the 2022 Mach-e. You can have the perspective that they should ramp up production to meet demand OR you could say they don't want to make too many in order to continue to make ICE vehicles.

Toyota has announced their first battery-only electric vehicle, and at a good price. Their limited production numbers, however, make it appear that Toyota is only paying lip service to EVs rather than actually becoming an EV manufacturer.

SO both the latest & greatest + classic electric cars are making the day trip to Osage City, KS for their April 9, 2022 show. Mac McCauley (2022 Model X Plaid), Dan Rosenblatt (2021 Model S Plaid) and Wilson Hitchings (vintage 2015 Model S90D, whale oil edition) are all driving out to Topeka, KS on the day before the show. It's a two-nighter (stay two nights, return day after the show) trip due to distance (about 8 hours driving time).
We sure could use more EVs than we have going, all brands, maybe a Model 3 or so. If you'd like to go, see our Events Calendar page for the details. You can register day-of-show (we all are). It's I-70 all the way so charging is readily available.
Contact one of the three intrepid travelers if you want to caravan with them on an EV mission...

Here's an interesting video showing why the USA has 110v / 120v and other countries do not. More interestingly, my employer (Underwriters Laboratory) was started at or right after the World's Fair in Chicago, and that Fair was the first electrified Fair ever. It's mentioned several times in the video.

What's it like to be famous? Welllll, ask the CSEVC! Ask me! It's media coverage like this that starts empires. I'll be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Bezos and Musk soon, and you knew me when I was just well-known. Autographs available for a fee, of course. Oh and a photo of club member Dan Rosenblatt's 2021 Model S Plaid car was printed.

Thanks to Rob Bowers for telling us about the article.
Note that one company already made an electric Delorean, but only made one and went out of business. It used a J1772 connector n the front of the car (in the grill) and the range was about 70 miles. Here's the video from 2012: https://youtu.be/RA6Lz-s9SE8 .
