OMG - an i-Pace is going to the show!

HOLY SMOKES FOLKS - I never thought I'd get to see one but at this Saturday's car show on Powers Blvd. in Colorado Springs a Jaguar i-Pace will be on display. You must contact the dealership for a test drive later that day, but there will be one at the First Saturday's Car Show. Seeing Jaguar's first all-electric vehicle would be worth the trip from anywhere. Thanks to our club member Chaz Clark for the notice.
Here's the official notice from Jaguar, courtesy of Chaz:
Usually we only get to see prototype vehicles on TV or in a magazine, but now, you have an exclusive chance to see one in person and drive it next week!
We would like to invite you to a very special, sneak peak of a prototype, pre-production version of the All-New 2019 Jaguar I-PACE, the first all-electric car from Jaguar. We will have the I-PACE at the First Saturday Car Show this Saturday, September 1, 2018. After the Car Show we will have the I-PACE at our dealership for exclusive test drives for our clients until Thursday, September 6th.
Please stop by Jaguar Colorado Springs between Saturday, September 1st and Thursday, September 6th, to test drive this exclusive vehicle.
This is a limited time event so don't wait or you'll miss out!

Pueblo Energy Expo postponed

Good Afternoon Wilson,

I am writing to let you know that the Energy Expo in Pueblo has been postponed until next autumn. After much discussion, the committee has agreed that it would be best to avoid certain competing political events, and give ourselves additional planning lead time to ensure event success.

We greatly appreciated your willingness to participate in the event, and will be in touch about having members get involved with the Expo when in launches in 2019.

I will be sure to keep you posted about the grand opening of our Level 3 and Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations in Pueblo West. We are aiming for September 13th, but will confirm once we have additional details.

Thank you again,
Laura

Dan, the Rocket Man

From Dan Rosenblatt at Bandimere Speedway on Wednesday:

This was my best run of the 3.
10.925 seconds, 121.28mph .
Battery was at 93%, ludicrous+ mode (battery temp 50C).
Front and back view dashcam.
The beep just after mashing the accelerator is the dashcam G-sensor being triggered.

New Member, Tom Michel

Our newest member, Tom Michel, is from Colorado Springs and has a 2018 Tesla Model 3 AWD Obsidian on order. Make him welcome when you see him!

From the Tesla Forum - Bandimere

I know this should be on the Colorado club forum, but, with flood of Model 3 deliveries, not all new owners can access that club site yet. And besides, for all you non-Coloradans, can you say ROADTRIP. Anyway, this Wednesday (Aug 8th) will be ‘official’ unofficial Tesla night at Bandimere (bandimere.com). Eric is going to bring a 3P, Dan will bring his SP100DL, I will bring my lowly S85 and you will bring your ???. Admission is $12 for spectator and $30 to drive, You can get a $5 discount if you have a CSP lanyard which you can pick up at some metro area CSP offices (google ‘csp take it to the track’). If you are going to drive, you need to wear shoes, shirt and long pants, if you show up in shorts and flipflops, they won’t let you race. If your car does the ¼ mile in less than 14 seconds (basically every Tesla ever made), you will need an approved helmet, but they can be rented at the track. Sorry for the short notice. So, be there or be square! This thread is cross posted on the S, X, 3, Colorado forums.

Season's last big car show - Aug. 19, 2018

To All:

The last big car show of the year is the Old Colorado City show in Colorado Springs, CO. The entire downtown of Old Colorado City is blocked off for this event and there are restaurants, parks and lots of stores. If you've never been to Old Colorado City, it's a treat.

Our club was asked to attend by the promoters of the show, Ace Entertainment. We already have quite a few people committing to attend on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 9:00am - 3:00pm. The promoters will reserve a good spot for all of us to park together, which is rare at a car show of this size.

If you'd like to attend, Ace Entertainment asks that you either pre-register on their website ( http://www.aceent1.com/old-colorado-city/ ) or print off the registration form ( http://www.aceent1.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/2018-OCC-Registration-Form.pdf ) and bring it already filled out the day of the show for fast, group entry. All EVs are "Show Class 8" when registering.

This is important: everyone from our club MUST meet at the Mason Jar Restaurant (2925 W Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80904) at 7:00am to register and enter at 7:15am. A spot cannot be held any later than 7:15am so be prompt with your arrival and registration for the show!

The show has an entry fee, $35, and is a rain-or-shine, all-day show. You cannot leave before 3:00pm for safety reasons, but Old Colorado City has so much to do that you'll spend your time shopping and seeing all the other cars there.

There are other shows in 2018 after this one, but none as big. You will have a lot of company showing whatever EV you have so please consider going. There is no RSVP to me, just register and/or go. See you there!

Huge risk to major carmakers from Model 3

Here's an interesting view of Tesla's most recent earnings call meeting by Ben Sullins. If you had any doubts that EVs will take over the world, watch the video. Also note which car makers are the ones people are trading in their cars for a Model 3...

Now listen to the "Now you Know" guys about their explanation of the earnings call from Tesla - it's AMAZING what Tesla announced.
