Good for Argentina, Bad for USA?

Argentina has chosen Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD to put buses on the road. This is great news for everyone involved, except you must wonder why the USA isn't in the competition. I certainly hope the USA decides that electric vehicles are the wave of the future and doesn't end up buying other countries buses for too long...
