We're international, folks!
As the website administrator, I keep track of our blog and it's activity. I am surprised to see that Europe - Poland and Russia - have people that view our website this week! Interesting, huh? And when viewing our all-time stats (last photo), Israel is our second highest source of visits!

Mark's Tesla Service Experience
I received this message from Mark Holzrichter, our member, about his Tesla service experience:
Hi Wilson,
Hi Wilson,
Delete this if you don't want to take time to read about a Model S problem and resolution.
I
work one week a month at a facility near Yoder CO including 3 miles on
dirt roads to get there. Last Thursday as I left work near Yoder my
Model S made loud noises like fingernails on a chalkboard. The sound
seemed to come from the left front wheel. I stopped, felt around the
wheel and found a plate covering the inside of the brake rotor that made
the same pitch when I twanged it. I called Tesla service, drove 3 mph
and let him listen. He said it sounded like a rock got where it did not
belong, and he could send service to rescue me or I could drive home. He
notified Mobile Service to make an appointment. He said the car would
tell me if I needed to stop for safety. I decided to drive home.
Thinking it over I started by going in reverse at 12mph for a few yards.
The noise stopped and only returned the next morning at the second stop
sign. I returned home, parked, and took my wife's minivan to Yoder.
Mobile Service called 2 hours later, came to my house an hour after
that, removed 2 rocks, test drove it, topped off fluids, and charged me
nothing even though it's past 50,000 miles, and maybe not Tesla's fault.
I'm a happy camper.
Share if you like.
This
week I met Nick who told the inspiring story of being the first Model 3
reservation in CO. He's had his Model 3 for 3 weeks. It's a nice red
that looks to me like a special color only for early reservations. He
said his Dad got the same car.
I'm pleased to now see Model 3s as often as I see Xs and Ss.
Happy driving.
Mark

50 years ago, same range
I was doing some research for a presentation I'm doing in August and I discovered the Henney Kilowatt. It had the same range as a modern Nissan Leaf! Only a few were built so one can only imagine what an original one is worth these days!

Latest communication about Custer, SD
This email was sent by Mac McCauley to the known attendees of the Custer, SD Rally this year:
Hello! I am Mac McCauley, president of the
Colorado Springs Electric Vehicle Club, in Colorado. I am the owner of
one of the ORIGINAL 10 Teslas who attended the very FIRST Custer SD
Tesla Rally in 2014. Sorry that I have used the email list of attendees
kindly provided by the Custer Chamber of Commerce to contact you. I
will not keep or share your email address beyond just this one email. I
am contacting all attendees with some information:
Since
you will be attending the Custer Rally this year, there is something
that is sort of fun to do while traveling, if you want to do it. At the
very FIRST Custer Rally in 2014, SOMEONE from California (I have
forgotten his name) dreamed up a way for all of us to keep track of each
other while traveling IF YOU WANT. He created a GLYMPSE BANG TAG (also
known as a Glympse Public Group). First you download the GLYMPSE app
onto your smartphone, then go to the main menu (3 lines up at the left
top of the app), down to PUBLIC TAGS, then enter this text:
!soundofsilence. That is the exclamation mark (!) and soundofsilence
without any spaces (enter). Then go to the big G at the bottom of the
app and touch SHARE. Choose how long you want to share your locations
(up to 12 hours at a time), then hit SHARE. Done. Now if you look on the
map, you can see where you and EVERYONE using the SOS bang tag is IN
REAL TIME! If you don't want people to be able to see where you are,
just turn it off.
Now, get this: You give your friends and relatives who are not going with you this URL:
Now,
anyone with ANY web browser on any computer or phone can see where you
are and where other participants from all over are located. Tons of fun
for friends and relatives to know where you are RIGHT NOW! BTW, you can
call up that web page in the Tesla Model S or X web browser WHILE YOU
ARE DRIVING. If you have a Model 3, TOO BAD, no browser!
The
constant updating uses some additional cellular battery and data. In my
experience, it is not bad, but you might want to plug in your phone
while traveling and check your data usage if you are on a tiny data
plan.
This
is quite handy, because if most everyone going to the Custer Rally uses
Glympse, you will be able to see what participants (if any) are at
superchargers as you approach them and where everyone else is located.
Sometimes you will find a travel buddy going the same way. I will try to
keep sharing my location from now on until the end of the rally. I
changed my "handle" to Mac & BJ. We live in Colorado Springs and
will travel on May 17 (Thursday) and May 20 (Sunday). See you there,
please be sure to say hi!
Mac McCauley (and wife, BJ)
We are driving our Signature silver Model X, and we also have a Model 3.

We are sponsoring the CSU Efficiency Day!
The CSEVC is sponsoring the June 9, 2018 CSU Efficiency Day event this Saturday at 2855 Mesa
Road in Colorado Springs. Our club is the main exhibitor of electric
vehicles at the show so your attendance is much appreciated. There is no
schedule for individuals attending, the show goes from 9:00am until
1:00pm, although those wanting to exhibit their cars at the show open
should be there by 8:00am. You may come and go as you please, but with
visitors all over the show we ask that you take great care when leaving
or entering the show before its close. Come when you can and we'll make
a spot for you.
I have to be gone for a short period of time during the show but feel free to call me if you have any questions. We get the parking spots in the back of the event building, and event entry is in the rear. Please back in and park next to the other electric cars in the rear lot. Your dedication in showing your cars at this event surely helps spread the word about EVs! Be prepared to answer a lot of questions about your car, charging, range, etc. I have found many guests at this show are very curious about our cars and the technology. If you're open to allowing riders in your car, I'm sure CSU would appreciate test drives from our members.

First Saturdays car show has MOVED!
The First Saturdays car show that is starting this Saturday, May 5, 2018, has moved positions at the First and Main Town Center on Powers Blvd. and Constitution in Colorado Springs. The Tesla Photo Shoot - Conceal Fab
I got this email from our club member who took his Tesla for a photo shoot:
============
============
I contacted Dennis Roark and took my Tesla
for a photo op on Saturday. I took a couple of my own and was wondering
if you would like to post one on the website. Dennis was kind enough to
take my wife and me on an interesting tour of the Conceal Fab production setup and explained various aspects of their many products.
I
am guessing Tesla will be setting up these modular cell towers near new
supercharger stations in remote areas as they expand their supercharger
network, well beyond regions that currently have good cell tower
service.
