DEVC Holiday Party is cancelled

Currently we have had 22 RSVP. Ten are DEVC Members, Seven are CSEVC Members and Five are members of both organizations. One has cancelled from the "both" group due to the COVID concerns. The RSVP is low (well under the typical 50+ we receive) probably due to COVID.

Recently a new variant Omicron has surfaced and it is to early to tell its level of threat. Due to the hesitance of members to attend the party and this new variant, we are cancelling this year's Christmas party.

Walsenburg, CO trip - GOING!

Final status: THE TRIP IS ON FOR SATURDAY, Nov. 13, 2021

Our club is going to visit a new Level 3 charger (CCS/Chademo) in Walsenberg, CO on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021. Our club member, Curtis Claar, runs a company named EV Trail ( http://www.evtrail.com/ ) that put helped put in the new charger in Walsenburg. The new dual-station charger is at George's Drive Inn, 564 US-85 #87, Walsenburg, CO 81089. There are two CCS/Chademo charging stations and 2 additional J1772 charging points (11 kW/h) for a total of 4 simultaneous charging ports. Several car club members are departing from Sams Club in Colorado Springs, near the S. Academy Blvd. exit off I-25 this Saturday (Nov. 13). The Sam's Club is located at 4385 Venetucci Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80906, and the map locator for the EA charger is https://goo.gl/maps/WwHECkM2yRTvRUCk6 . We will leave at 10:00am from the Electrify America charging station in the Sam's Club parking lot. 

This trip is weather-dependent. The final decision to go/reschedule will be made by 10:00am, Friday November 12, 2021. Please check back here for the final update. If weather is a problem, we will reschedule once to the next Saturday. If that fails, we'll go another time.

All cleaned up!

 As part of moving to a new laptop, I was forced to export/import all my email addresses to the new email program I use. I then compared all the addresses to what I have on file for the CSEVC mailing list and found several issues.

About a dozen of our members haven't been getting our emails, either because they've changed email addresses (e.g., moved jobs) or their email systems rejected our messages enough times that Mailchimp has given up on sending messages to that address. I have contacted as many of those individuals as I can to see if we can fix the problem.

One common issue is that anyone using a CenturyLink.net email address is getting rejected. For some reason, CenturyLink.net thinks our Mailchimp server is on a "blacklist". I'm not sure anyone in particular is going to be able to fix that with them, so I suggest you create a new email address at GMAIL for our newsletter and messages. Who knows how many emails you are missing due to their system?

If you have changed emails lately, or are sending our messages to an address that you don't check frequently, please update your information with me at info AT CSEVC.COM .

Pikes Peak EV Climb - Oct. 30, 2021

 The CSEVC had 10 cars drive to the top of Pikes Peak on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021. It was PERFECT weather all along the way, you can see more than a few states from the summit. A good time was had by all.

Pikes Peak Ride to the Top - Oct. 30

 In case you hadn't heard, the club is driving to the top of Pikes Peak this Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021. Please meet at the KFC parking lot near Colorado Ave., and 31st Street in Colorado Springs, CO before 10:00am. We are promptly leaving at 10:00am. There is a $15 fee per person to drive to the summit of Pikes Peak. Lunch is not included in that price. There are hot dogs/hamburgers at the Summit House but you may also bring your own lunch. We'll take a group photo at the top!

Our club member, Dennis Korth, in memoriam

I would like to pay a moment of silence for our club member Dennis Korth who passed away recently. Dennis built a 1974 EV Beetle as a high school shop teacher and owned an electric bike.
