May club meeting at the Balanced Rock Cafe

Thanks to Mac McCauley for arranging our next meeting, May 14, 11:30am at the Balanced Rock Cafe in the Garden of the Gods. There is an event in the meeting room that day, but we get the outdoor area (a tent) for our meeting, so dress accordingly (that's either desert wear or arctic wear, who knows?). Like last time, we order our meals inside and we'll go outside for lunch. We also get the reserved parking lot to the left of the Trading Post.

I'm sure we'll be discussing the Custer, SD road trip this meeting, so if you're going, please plan to attend.

Check out our sister website, Southwest Tesla Rally!

There have been enough Tesla events in our area to warrant a website for everyone to get information on trips, rallies and events in the Southwest region of the United States. While Colorado is technically in the Mountain region of the US, most people think the Southwest includes us.

I've checked Google and the Telsa forums and could not find a single, FREE place to list events in our general area. Please visit our related website, for the latest information. If you know of any municipal or state-wide Tesla clubs that should be listed, let them know about the website and we'll add them.

In order to prevent double-update, our own club's link to the Sound of Silence trip to Custer, SD points to the new website. Other than a brief mention on our Calendar & Events page, the detailed information will be on, not on our blog.

Thanks to Mac McCauley for providing much of the content for the Colorado pages.

A thank you from UCCS for Sustainnovate 2016!

Although our club member Kevin Gilford was kind enough to send his message to our participating club members, I wanted the entire group to see it. I heard from both club participants and UCCS staff how much they appreciated our contributing our cars to the Summit. The director said the exhibits "made the show". Several club members reported speaking to Summit attendees and students for quite a long time. Personally I spent over a 1/2 hour speaking to three students, and let them sit in my car. They asked VERY intelligent questions (range, battery degradation, maintenance).

Here's Kevin's email to me, and thanks again Colorado Springs EV Club!
Thank you, Wilson and everybody else from the CSEVC for participating in our Sustainnovate event.  You made it educational, exciting and fun.  Hope you enjoyed it too.

Hot off the Parking Lot floor...

We received a lovely note from Lesley at the Canopy Parking Lot in Commerce City. I'm happy all our members were polite and behaved themselves. Her letter is below.
Hi Wilson,

It was a pleasure meeting you in person and thank you again for making the drive to our facility. We had a great time hosting everyone, it was fun to get to know everyone and learn more about EV’s and renewable energy.

I greatly appreciate you sharing the photos. I would love to share these on our Facebook page and we will mention CSEVC and DEVC to our 4,000 followers.

Thank you again for coming to see to what Canopy is all about, we hope to see you back soon.

Green Airport Parking Facility Tour this Saturday!

Check out the Canopy Airport Parking Tour page for details. We'd love to see you at lunch, then for sure at the parking facility. I'm interested in their energy production, specifically wind turbines. If I stand close enough to one and shout, will my voice sound funny?

At least two CSEVC members buy the Tesla Model 3!

Nick Lundberg and Andrew Soeldner both waited in line at Park Meadows Mall and reserved a Tesla Model 3. In the case of Andrew, he bought two. The projected delivery date is EOY 2017. Elon Musk stated that before the unveiling there was 115,000 reservations - sight unseen. Quite a feat for a young car company. A very revealing test drive video is below.
