The war on EVs is alive and well...

The latest front in the war on EVs is a surcharge for owning an EV, under the guise of paying the "fair share" for road maintenance. Read about it at .

New club business card design

We have been asked on several occasions if our club has a business card to give to EV owners we meet in the wild. We do, and we just re-designed it (see below). We'll have a few hundred printed up and let any club member who wants some to have them.

It's almost May newsletter went out!

If you're on the club's mailing list, you should have received our latest CSEVC Newsletter, sent out today, April 30, 2019. If you think you should be getting them but didn't, email me. If you joined us only from our Facebook page, we don't automatically add you to our mailing list - email me if you want to start getting our messages.

OR you can just go to our Newsletter page ( ) and read it.

New signup sheet from Concurs show

The best car show of the year (in my opinion) is the Concurs D'Elegance at Arapahoe Community College on June 9, 2019. Our club participated in the show a couple of years ago, it was a great all-day show with exotic cars. They just updated their sign-up poster, see below.

Update on Earth Day 2019

To those club members participating in Earth Day 2019: the event coordinators ask that if you're attending the show at the start of the day, please be in place and parked no later than 8:30am. If you can't arrive for the start of the show, please wait until after 10:00am to arrive. We want to minimize the demands on their staff to lock/unlock the gate, so please arrive/leave in 2 hour blocks of time (start of show; 10:00am, noon, 2:00pm). This would greatly help all of us, thanks!

Charging at a canal

A friend I have (Tom Croak) in the Mercedes Club of America (Pikes Peak Section) who visits Europe frequently and he sent me a photo of the canals in Amsterdam. Tom's comments were:

There seems to be a charging post on every block along the canals. I was told they would add more as needed. Also took the canal tour in a mini-yacht built in 1909 that had been converted from diesel to electric four years ago. Guide said that all canal tour boats had to be converted by 2022.

I have seen so many Model S taxis here, it really made me wonder. Today I got the explanation. The Airport has a rule that only electric taxis may be on their grounds. By 2022, all taxis in the city have to be electric, same deadline for all tour boats to be converted. I got varying stories on when all cars that are not electric will be banned from the city.  Of course, the primary mode of transportation here is the bicycle, so you can see the push from the people to reduce emissions.  The city has an excellent system of electric trolleys that will take you most places in the city. It is a very clean city and we have greatly enjoyed our visit.
